Home Care

Hands-on support with daily living, coordinated with the clinical plan rather than separate from it.

Home care usually arrives in a family's life abruptly — after a fall, a discharge, or a gradual realisation that things are no longer manageable. What tends to go wrong is not the care itself but the coordination: several providers, none of whom talk to each other, and a family member holding it all together. Monarch Home Care is delivered as part of a single clinical plan, with one point of contact.

What it includes

  • Support with daily living

    Personal care, bathing, dressing, mobility assistance, meals and medication reminders, at whatever level is genuinely needed.

  • Nursing care at home

    Clinical care delivered at home by registered nurses, including monitoring, wound care and medication management.

  • A named care coordinator

    One person who knows the situation, holds the moving parts together, and can be reached — so the family is not doing the coordinating.

  • Care that adjusts as needs change

    The arrangement is reviewed regularly and changes with the situation, rather than staying fixed until something breaks.

  • Communication with the family

    Regular, plain-language updates on what has changed and what is being done, with the person's consent.

What this is not

  • This is not a substitute for publicly funded home and community care, and we help families access those services where they are eligible.
  • It is not residential or long-term care.
  • It does not provide faster access to MSP-covered services.

How it is arranged

Home Care is delivered within a Monarch Health membership, so the clinical plan and the support at home are one arrangement rather than two.

  • Monarch Preserve

    Typically 65 and over, or where frailty is a factor at any age

    Stay healthy, independent and connected, with rapid access when something changes — and coordinated clinical and home-based support when care becomes complicated.

    What it includes

Insured physician and nursing services are billed to MSP as usual. Personal care, coordination, planning and monitoring are uninsured services delivered within the coordinated pathway of a Monarch Preserve membership.

Monarch Health’s memberships and private programs cover uninsured services only. Services that are covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) continue to be billed to MSP. You will receive a written record of what your membership includes before any services begin.
This program does not guarantee access to or replace a General Practitioner, Family Physician, or any Medical Service Plan (MSP) insured primary care services. It also does not provide expedited access to MSP-covered laboratory tests, diagnostic investigations, or specialist referrals.
