Prevention

Early Detection

Risk-guided screening pathways, used where they are clinically appropriate for you.

Screening is most useful when it is directed by your actual risk rather than applied uniformly. This program works through cancer, cardiovascular and genetic risk with you, and uses screening or imaging where the evidence supports it for someone in your position — and says so when it does not.

What it involves

  • Structured risk assessment across cancer and cardiovascular risk
  • Family history and, where appropriate, genetic risk review
  • Screening arranged where clinically indicated
  • Targeted imaging where clinically indicated
  • A clear explanation of what a result does and does not tell you

Coverage

Insured and uninsured components

This program combines insured and uninsured components. Insured physician services and any medically necessary investigations are billed to MSP as usual. The uninsured components — assessment depth beyond what MSP covers, planning, coordination and ongoing monitoring — are covered by your membership.

This program does not guarantee access to or replace a General Practitioner, Family Physician, or any Medical Service Plan (MSP) insured primary care services. It also does not provide expedited access to MSP-covered laboratory tests, diagnostic investigations, or specialist referrals.

How to access this program

Early Detection is delivered within a Monarch Health membership rather than purchased on its own. These memberships include it:

Whether this program is clinically appropriate for you is a decision made with your physician after assessment. Membership does not imply that every program will form part of your plan.
