Function

Functional Assessments

Direct measurement of what you can actually do, tracked over time.

Bloodwork describes biology; functional assessment describes capability. Measuring strength, balance, gait, endurance and day-to-day function gives a picture that laboratory results alone cannot, and it is the measure that matters most as people get older.

A couple in their sixties hiking a coastal trail with walking poles.

What it involves

  • Strength and grip measurement
  • Balance and gait speed
  • Endurance and functional capacity
  • Day-to-day activity review
  • Repeat measurement so change is visible rather than inferred
