Sleep Medicine

Assessment and improvement of sleep and recovery.

Poor sleep affects nearly everything else — cognition, metabolism, mood, cardiovascular health and recovery. It is also frequently caused by something specific and treatable, which is worth establishing rather than assuming.

What it involves

  • Structured sleep assessment
  • Screening for sleep apnoea and other sleep disorders
  • Referral for sleep study where clinically indicated
  • Evidence-based management, including behavioural approaches
  • Follow-up to confirm whether it actually improved

Coverage

Insured and uninsured components

This program combines insured and uninsured components. Insured physician services and any medically necessary investigations are billed to MSP as usual. The uninsured components — assessment depth beyond what MSP covers, planning, coordination and ongoing monitoring — are covered by your membership.

This program does not guarantee access to or replace a General Practitioner, Family Physician, or any Medical Service Plan (MSP) insured primary care services. It also does not provide expedited access to MSP-covered laboratory tests, diagnostic investigations, or specialist referrals.

How to access this program

Sleep Medicine is delivered within a Monarch Health membership rather than purchased on its own. These memberships include it:

Whether this program is clinically appropriate for you is a decision made with your physician after assessment. Membership does not imply that every program will form part of your plan.
